What Is Blood Sugar Support? The Label Phrase Explained
Blood sugar support is label wording for a supplement that the seller says supports normal body function. It is not a medicine and not a test result. The FDA does not approve it before sale, and the label must carry a disclaimer. Glyco Harmony prints it with a star, one chromium amount of 0.7 mcg and a 200 mg blend.

The phrase01
What is blood sugar support on a supplement label?
Blood sugar support is a marketing phrase that a seller prints on a dietary supplement. It says the product is meant to support a body function. It does not say the product treats anything.
A supplement may describe how an ingredient affects the structure or function of the body, with a disclaimer. Only a drug may claim to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent a disease (FDA, Questions and Answers on Dietary Supplements).
So "Blood Sugar Support*" names a topic. It names no result and no dose, and two bottles with the same phrase can hold very different ingredients.
The Glyco Harmony front label reads "GLYCO HARMONY", "Blood Sugar Support*", "Dietary Supplement" and "2 fl oz / 60 ml". The star leads to the FDA statement: not evaluated, not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

The star02
Does the FDA approve blood sugar support claims?
No. The FDA does not approve dietary supplements or their label wording before they are sold. The company is responsible for the product being safe and its claims being truthful (FDA, Questions and Answers on Dietary Supplements).
The star points to the line that says the FDA has not evaluated the statement. The registered-facility footnote on the label is different: registration is not approval.
| Kind of statement | Example | Allowed on a supplement? |
|---|---|---|
| Disease claim | "The Easiest Way to Manage Type 2" (a sales page headline) | No. This is a drug claim. |
| Structure or function claim | "Blood Sugar Support*" (the label front) | Yes, with the disclaimer and a truthful basis. |
| Nutrient content | Chromium 0.7 mcg, 2% Daily Value | Yes, as a measured amount on the facts panel. |
The benefits question03
What are the benefits of blood sugar support supplements?
The proven benefits of blood sugar support supplements are small and uncertain. The American Diabetes Association says supplements are not proven to lower blood glucose or support diabetes management, and that people without a deficiency see no benefit (American Diabetes Association, Vitamins and Supplements).
A pooled look at chromium trials found small changes in fasting glucose and A1C of unclear importance (Yin and Phung 2015, chromium and A1C). Trials of gymnema showed modest drops in fasting glucose, but effectiveness for diabetes has not been established (LiverTox, Gymnema).
No trial tested Glyco Harmony. The finished drops are a different thing from a single ingredient at a studied dose, and the FTC says so for health products in general (FTC, Health Products Compliance Guidance). Chromium trials used 1.28 to 1,000 mcg a day; this label has 0.7 mcg (NIH ODS, Chromium fact sheet).

On this bottle04
What does the Glyco Harmony label list under blood sugar support?
The Glyco Harmony label lists chromium (as chromium picolinate) at 0.7 mcg and a 200 mg proprietary blend of 22 names, per 1 mL serving. Only chromium has its own amount.
A proprietary blend must list its names in descending order by weight (eCFR, 21 CFR 101.36 (proprietary blends)). So name 1, maca, weighs at least 9.09 mg, and name 8, gymnema, at most 25 mg. Those are limits, not amounts.

Is blood sugar support the same as diabetes treatment?
No. Blood sugar support is wording on a supplement. Diabetes treatment is a plan from a clinician that can include medicine, food, movement and monitoring.
Care starts with testing, eating well, moving more and taking prescribed medicine as directed (CDC, Diabetes Basics). An A1C of 6.5% or above points to diabetes (NIDDK, The A1C Test and Diabetes).
What a care plan does
- Starts with testing
- Sets medicine doses with your team
- Plans for low blood sugar
What the phrase does
- Names a topic on a label
- Carries an FDA disclaimer
- Replaces nothing
Safety first06
Is blood sugar support safe with diabetes medicine?
It can be unsafe to add a blood sugar support supplement without asking. Sources list chromium, L-arginine, ginseng and gymnema as able to add to the effect of insulin or diabetes pills, which can bring blood sugar too low.
Keep taking prescribed medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before you add any supplement. Never change insulin or diabetes medicine because of one (Mayo Clinic, Hypoglycemia).

How do you decide about a blood sugar support product?
Decide about a blood sugar support product by checking five things before you buy: the claim, the amounts, the cautions, the maker and the refund terms.
- Ask your clinician first
Bring the bottle or a photo of the Supplement Facts panel. A pharmacist can check each name against your medicines.
- Look for printed amounts
This label prints one amount and hides 22 more behind a blend.

Confusion, fainting or a seizure needs 911 (CDC, Low Blood Sugar (Hypoglycemia)). The comparison guide gives the full checklist.
- Low Blood Sugar (Hypoglycemia). Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2024.Last reviewed May 16, 2024. Blood sugar below 70 mg/dL is low and needs action; below 54 mg/dL is severe. Symptoms: fast heartbeat, shaking, sweating, anxiety, irritability or confusion, dizziness, hunger; worse lows bring weakness, trouble seeing or walking, and seizures. Some people have no warning symptoms (higher risk with diabetes over 5 to 10 years, frequent lows, or beta blockers). Severe lows often need another person's help; a CGM can alert during sleep.
- Vitamins & Supplements for Diabetes. American Diabetes Association, n.d..No publication date shown on the page (copyright range to 2026). The ADA says its Standards of Care find supplements are not proven to lower blood glucose or support diabetes management, and that without an underlying deficiency there is no benefit from herbal or nonherbal supplementation. Supplements are recommended only for a diagnosed deficiency. Supplements can interact with medicines and cause low or high blood sugar. Talk with the care team first; if one is recommended, look for the USP symbol. The page does not mention chromium.
- Questions and Answers on Dietary Supplements. U.S. Food and Drug Administration, 2026.Content current as of August 27, 2026. FDA enforces supplement rules mostly after products reach the market; it does not approve supplements or their labeling beforehand, does not routinely analyze their content, and FTC handles advertising. Structure/function claims need substantiation and the label disclaimer: This statement has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration; not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Only drugs may make those claims. Report problems through the Safety Reporting Portal.
FAQ08
Blood sugar support questions
What does Blood Sugar Support* mean on the Glyco Harmony label?
It is a structure or function style phrase. The star leads to the FDA statement that the claim was not evaluated and the product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. It promises no result.
Does a blood sugar support supplement replace diabetes medicine?
No. Keep taking prescribed medicine and keep your visits. Never change insulin or diabetes medicine because of a supplement. Ask your doctor or pharmacist before you add one, since several ingredients may add to medicine effects.
Who should avoid blood sugar support supplements?
Ask a doctor first if you take insulin or diabetes pills, are pregnant or nursing, are under 18, or have liver, kidney or heart problems. The Glyco Harmony label gives the same warning to anyone with a medical condition.
Is blood sugar support the same as lowering blood sugar?
No. The phrase is general label wording, not a measured effect. The American Diabetes Association says supplements are not proven to lower blood glucose, and no study has tested Glyco Harmony itself.
Where does the phrase blood sugar support come from?
Sellers use it because the FDA allows structure or function wording on supplements when it is truthful and carries the disclaimer. It is not a medical term, and no dose or test is attached to it.
Can you see a result from blood sugar support drops?
Nobody can promise one. No trial of Glyco Harmony exists, and a change in your readings could come from food, activity, medicine or chance. Track readings with your care team.
