Glyco Harmony Ginseng: Eleuthero, Astragalus and Panax Aerial Extract
Glyco Harmony ginseng means three label names: Eleutherococcus root (name 5), Astragalus root (name 6) and Panax ginseng aerial extract (name 12). By the blend rule they weigh at most 40, 33.3 and 16.7 mg per 1 mL. Only Panax is true Asian ginseng, and the label lists its above-ground parts, not the root.

On the label01
Which ginseng is in Glyco Harmony?
Three names on the Glyco Harmony label belong here: Eleutherococcus Senticosus Root Extract, Astragalus Root Extract and Panax Ginseng Aerial Extract. They are three different plants.
Eleuthero is Siberian ginseng, a separate plant from Asian ginseng. Astragalus is an herb from traditional Chinese medicine. Panax ginseng is Asian ginseng, but the label lists the aerial extract, meaning the above-ground leaf and stem, not the root.
Other names sit on the highlighted lines, so the marking covers more than ginseng.

The arithmetic02
How much ginseng is in Glyco Harmony per serving?
The label does not print any of the three amounts. The blend rule gives each a ceiling: 200 mg divided by its place in the list (eCFR, 21 CFR 101.36 (proprietary blends)).
Eleuthero is 5th, so it weighs at most 40 mg. Astragalus is 6th, at most 33.3 mg. Panax aerial extract is 12th, at most 16.7 mg. Most names sit below their ceilings, so the real amounts are probably smaller.
Studies of Asian ginseng used far more. A meta-analysis of 20 trials found a cholesterol change only at 2 g a day or more (Naseri et al. 2022, ginseng meta-analysis). A ceiling of 16.7 mg is under 1% of 2,000 mg, and it is aerial extract, not the root those trials used.
| Label name | Place | Most it can weigh | Exact amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Eleutherococcus Senticosus Root Extract | 5 of 22 | 40 mg | Not printed |
| Astragalus Root Extract | 6 of 22 | 33.3 mg | Not printed |
| Panax Ginseng Aerial Extract | 12 of 22 | 16.7 mg | Not printed |
At 2 droppers, double each ceiling, if one dropper is 1 mL. The label does not define a dropper.
The research03
What does research say about ginseng, eleuthero and astragalus?
Asian ginseng has the most research of the three, and for blood sugar the NCCIH calls it inconclusive and conflicting (NCCIH, Asian Ginseng).
A 2022 review found better fasting glucose in some trials, but most had under 200 people and ran under 3 months. A meta-analysis of 20 trials also saw a faster heart rate (Naseri et al. 2022, ginseng meta-analysis). For eleuthero we found no human diabetes data, and animal findings conflict (MSK, Siberian Ginseng). For astragalus, kidney findings come from formulas, and glucose findings come from rats (MSK, Astragalus).
No source we cite tested the three names together, or in Glyco Harmony.

Safety04
Does ginseng interact with diabetes medicine?
It may. The NCCIH says Asian ginseng might lower blood sugar, so people with diabetes should ask a health professional before using it (NCCIH, Asian Ginseng).
Diabetes medicine is the most common cause of low blood sugar (Mayo Clinic, Hypoglycemia). The Panax amount is unknown, so treat the caution as real.
Panax ginseng
Insomnia is the most common effect. It may affect blood clotting and may inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme (LiverTox, Ginseng).
Eleuthero
May raise digoxin readings. Heart patients on digoxin should ask first (MSK, Siberian Ginseng).
Astragalus
May weaken immunosuppressants and add to blood-pressure drugs, diuretics and blood thinners (MSK, Astragalus).

What should you do before taking Glyco Harmony with these herbs?
Ask your doctor or pharmacist first, and keep taking prescribed medicine. Never change insulin or diabetes medicine because of a supplement.
Know the warning signs of low blood sugar: shaking, sweating, a fast heartbeat, confusion. Confusion, fainting or a seizure need emergency care, so call 911 (CDC, Low Blood Sugar (Hypoglycemia)). The label also tells pregnant or nursing mothers, children under 18 and anyone with a known medical condition to consult a physician.

FAQ08
Glyco Harmony ginseng questions
Is there ginseng in Glyco Harmony?
Yes, in one form. The label lists Panax Ginseng Aerial Extract as name 12 of 22. It also lists eleuthero, often called Siberian ginseng, which is a different plant. Exact amounts are not printed.
Is Glyco Harmony ginseng root or leaf?
Neither is a root. The label says aerial extract, which means the above-ground parts such as leaf and stem. Most studies of Asian ginseng used the root, so their results may not match this extract.
How much Panax ginseng is in Glyco Harmony?
The label does not say. Name 12 weighs at most 200 ÷ 12 = 16.7 mg per 1 mL. If one dropper is 1 mL, that is at most 33.3 mg at 2 droppers a day.
What is eleuthero, and is it real ginseng?
Eleutherococcus senticosus is called Siberian ginseng, but it is a different plant from Panax ginseng. We found no human diabetes data for it, and animal findings conflict. It may raise digoxin readings.
Can ginseng lower blood sugar too far?
It might. The NCCIH says Asian ginseng may lower blood sugar, so people with diabetes should ask a health professional first. Diabetes medicine is the most common cause of low blood sugar, and the two can add up.
Does ginseng interact with other medicines?
It can. Ginseng may affect blood clotting, and some ginsenosides may inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme, which clears many drugs. Eleuthero can raise digoxin readings. Tell your pharmacist about every supplement you take.
